ANNAPOLIS – Anne Arundel County Council unanimously approved the $1.18 billion budget for FY 2011.  This retained many recommendations from County Executive Leopold such as furlough days and eliminated positions that lower spending by $6.5 million.

GLEN BURNIE – ShopRite will open an 85,000 square foot store in the Chesapeake Square Shopping Center this fall.  This will be the eighth ShopRite store in the state and the first in Anne Arundel; the company expects it will create 200 jobs.

BELTSVILLE – SunEdison has reached agreement with First Reserve Corporation to establish a joint venture which could provide for the acquisition of up to $1.5 billion in current and future SunEdison solar photovoltaic energy projects.  SunEdison, the solar energy development division of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., has 350 solar electric power plants constructed and under management.
