MILLERSVILLE – Through the Commercial Security Network, Anne Arundel Police provides businesses information about criminal activity that could affect safety of the business, its employees and their customers. The Web site lists terrorist indicators, recent crimes and suspects with photos, and the latest arrests such as Buffalo Bill’s. That criminal mastermind used the same Buffalo Bills baseball cap in several bank robberies before he was nabbed. See the Web site to sign up for email alerts.
SEVERN – Maryland’s congressional delegation has arranged for the state to receive $5.6 million to accommodate much-needed roadway work around Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground. This is part of $138 million that Maryland obtained this year for BRAC-related infrastructure to support the roughly 30,000 jobs headed our way.
BWI AIRPORT – Statistics from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport show that passenger traffic has increased every month since May 2009. Total commercial passengers in November came to 1.7 million, a 13 percent increase from November 2008.

LINTHICUM – TownePlace Suites by Marriott at Baltimore BWI Airport expects to receive the LEED Existing Building Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Built in 2007, the hotel is undergoing change to achieve the environmental moniker, such as composting all breakfast waste to achieve zero waste, using sustainable and environmentally friendly cleaning products, replacing plumbing hardware with low-flow devices and purchasing renewable energy wind credits to offset the hotel’s carbon footprint.

These are virtualization projects that have precarious underlying network infrastructure, at least five high-profile outages will strike by July, compliance issues that will cause hefty fines and job losses, and rising merger and acquisition activity that will sap IT departments.
