ANNAPOLIS – Hollis Minor of business consultancy The Minor Group was named as a “CEO You Need to Know” for 2009 by The Gazette of Politics & Business. She was nominated by economic development officers around the state before being chosen as one of the 25 honorees from a field of 150.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Dan Dingus is the new interactive director/graphic designer at Take One Digital Media, the media design and production firm. He was previously with various interactive and ad agencies in Baltimore and worked on accounts for Black & Decker, the National Aquarium, PGA Tour and McGraw-Hill.

SAVAGE – The newly opened adventure camp Terrapin Adventures offers a day camp for teenagers to learn about the environment, leadership and teamwork through activities that include rock climbing and rappelling, biking, sailing and tours of parks and rivers.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Now that a certain number of stores and restaurants have opened at the mixed-use development, Annapolis Towne Centre will hold a grand opening this weekend with a free concert, retailer demonstrations and special promotions. Activities begin Friday at 6 pm and run through Saturday afternoon.
 

ANNAPOLIS – A pair of newly created videos from the Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau will air on Capitalonline.com, YouTube, and the Tourism Works page of the organization’s Web site this month to promote the region during National Tourism Week, May 9-17. The first video features area residents talking about what tourism means to them and how AAACCVB makes a difference in their lives, and the second introduces viewers to services provided to the community.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation has published its list of new and expanding companies in the county. No surprise that the two largest are connected to the BRAC relocation at Fort Meade: Defense Military Dept. Adjudication Activities with 760 employees, and Defense Media Publications Activity with 663.
 

LINTHICUM – NYSE Euronext and network specialist Ciena are planning to implement the first 100G network by next year. With this NYSE Euronext will have the speed and low-latency to facilitate the execution of one billion daily financial transactions from data centers in New York and London.
 

LINTHICUM HEIGHTS – Foundation Coal Holdings, Inc. reported a first quarter 2009 net loss of $4.5 million or $0.10 per diluted share, compared to net income of $6.2 million or $0.13 per diluted share in the first quarter of 2008. The results reflect lower Northern Appalachian shipments compared to last year due to two scheduled longwall moves, the lack of contracted metallurgical shipments and, to a lesser extent, reduced shipments to steam coal customers.
 

LINTHICUM – Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems’ work on the U.S. Marine Corps’ Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) has passed a key milestone with the conclusion of a formal critical design review. The prime contractor on the $256 million program, Northrop is developing the mobile multi-mission radar to replace five ground-based radars. G/ATOR will provide a variety of functions for longer-range Air Force and Navy applications and shorter-range ones for the Army.
