ANNAPOLIS – Frank Gumpert Printing accepted the Digital “Q” trophy for Best of Show for Digital Press in front of a crowd of 300 people at the Excellence in Print Awards Banquet of the Printing and Graphics Association-Mid Atlantic. Now in its 54th year, the company also earned four Best of Category awards.
 

GREENBELT – the management company for Arbors at Arundel Preserve and Mariner Bay at Annapolis Towne Centre, Bozzuto Property Management was named Property Management Company of the Year at NAHB’s annual Pillars of the Industry Conference. The company’s Anne Arundel apartment complexes are part of its portfolio of 27,500 units in 97 multi-family properties throughout the East Coast.
 

ANNAPOLIS – The board of directors of Severn Bancorp, Inc., parent company of Severn Savings Bank FSB, has declared a regular quarterly dividend of $.03 per share for the first quarter of 2009. This dividend is payable on April 15, 2009 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 31, 2009 and represents a reduction of $.03 per share from the dividend declared for the fourth quarter of 2008.
 

LANDOVER – Giant Food, which has nine stores in Anne Arundel, will continue through July 11th its program of giving away selected antibiotics when customers present a doctor’s prescription and their Giant Bonus Card. The service was scheduled to end March 21st but is remaining in place because of the current state of the economy. The company also is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to promote a program that answers questions about antibiotics.
 

ARNOLD – Private equity financier Ashby Point Capital is part of a group of investors that has put $6 million into InstaMed, a healthcare payments network and platform. The financing was led by existing InstaMed investors.
 

ANNAPOLIS – MedAssurant, Inc. has received certification for the fourth year in a row for its Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set software from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The technology is used by many health plans to measure performance of care and service. The Bowie-based company employs several hundred at its Annapolis location.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Some institutional investors in PharmAthene, Inc. will purchase about $5.5 million of the company’s common stock and warrants this week. The bio-defense company will use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes such as satisfying existing obligations.
 

LUSBY – Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 has returned to full power after completing a scheduled refueling outage. The reactor operated nonstop for more than 692 days before its refueling outage and in the process set a record for pressurized water reactors. The emission-free electricity from the site’s two units meets the needs of more than one million homes, or about 20 percent of all Maryland residents.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Graphic arts/printing provider Whitmore Group has added J. Katrina Holloway to its sales department. Her background includes more than 13 years of conventional print and digital print experience.
 

ANNAPOLIS – Bill Adams is now the go-to guy in the sales department of the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau. In his previous position as senior sales manager at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., Bill promoted the destination through cooperative ventures with hotels, CVBs, tour operators, transportation companies, and restaurants.
