COLUMBIA – Oncology drug maker Celsion Corporation expects to relocate its operations and corporate headquarters to Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
HANOVER – Conmed Healthcare Management has entered into a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by Ayelet Investments LLC, an affiliate of James H. Desnick, M.D., for $3.85 per share in cash, or an aggregate purchase price of approximately $57.2 million. The board of directors of Conmed has unanimously approved the transaction.
COLUMBIA – Oncology drug developer Celsion appointed Gregory Weaver, a Director since 2005, to the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and promoted Jeffery Church to the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Strategy and Investor Relations.
GLEN BURNIE – NovaSom has closed $35 million in equity financing that it will use to fund growth in its sleep management technology including additional innovations within the company’s diagnostic medical device and cloud-based MediTrack Patient Management Portals.
HANOVER – Correctional facility health care provider Conmed Healthcare Management says its board has decided to explore strategic alternatives for the company including a sale, potential acquisitions and expansion opportunities.
BALTIMORE – Of the 31 area hospitals ranked by U.S. News & World Report, the top 10 are in the City. Howard General in Columbia came in at 11th, followed by Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie (14th) and Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis (19th).
SEVERNA PARK – Dynasplint Systems has a new addition to its suite of equipment for ankle and foot therapy. The Inversion-Eversion Control System works in conjunction with the Ankle Dorsiflexion Dynasplint aligning the ankle joint to a neutral position for true dorsiflexion range of motion.
BALTIMORE – The Greater Baltimore Committee named winners at its sixth annual Maryland Bioscience Awards. The Best New Product went to Steven J. Kubisen, Ph.D., President and CEO of Seguro Surgical in Columbia for the Lap Pak; this one-piece, silicone “bowel packing” device is used in abdominal surgery. The other from Columbia is Steve Dubin, Esq., CPA, CEO, Martek Bioscience Corporation for the Leadership award. In February Martek was acquired by DSM for $1.1 billion.
BOWIE – MedAssurant will deploy its data analytics solutions to improve clinical outcomes and financial performance for Healthfirst, a provider of managed care services for Medicare and Medicaid healthcare programs in New Jersey and New York.
