COLUMBIA – Annapolis-based SemaConnect, developer and producer of networked electric vehicle charging stations and software for station owners, is one of 15 firms that received funding from The Maryland Technology Development Corporation. The program fosters collaboration between businesses, universities and federal labs in order to bring technology into the marketplace.

ROCKVILLE – From the land-lubbers across the state comes news of Montgomery county’s approval of a system to treat polluted stormwater runoff headed for the Bay. The Jellyfish filter from Imbrium Systems is a high-treatment rate membrane filter system that captures sediment and nutrients. The Bay needs to shed 63 million pounds of nitrogen and 3.1 million pounds of phosphorus before it can reach a healthy stage.

MILLERSVILLE – The Mid-Atlantic Regional Collaborative’s (MARC) Green Consortium has released Green Data for a Growing Green Economy, a portal with research reports and green jobs.  The site gives free job search and recruitment tools for local jobseekers and employers while the Green Data for a Growing Green Economy reports give government, education and business communities an unprecedented look at the state of the region’s green workforce.

MARYLAND – The 70 coastal beaches in the state were clean enough to garner 16th place nationwide, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.  The report looks at bacteria-related closings, advisories and other factors.  Local beaches awarded Superstar Beach status for their perfect testing results?  Rehoboth and Dewey, in Delaware.

MILLERSVILLE – Constellation Energy has completed a 750-kilowatt on-site solar installation at Anne Arundel County’s Combined Support Services Complex.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned April 26 at this first operational solar installation under the Maryland Energy Administration’s Project Sunburst initiative.

ANNAPOLIS – Earth Day is in the air: Bausum & Duckett Electric will execute an electrical services contract for the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Net-Zero lab house on the NIST campus in Gaithersburg.  The structure will produce as much energy as it consumes and will serve as a test bed for new residential green technologies.
