MILLERSVILLE – Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) named Thomas Francovitch as project manager of its Pathways to CyberSecurity Job Training program. Francovitch, formerly with Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, will be responsible for the program development and daily operation of AAWDC’s cybersecurity grant project.
ELKRIDGE – Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation has secured work under prime Northrop Grumman for homeland security preparedness training. Under a task order with the Department of Homeland Security’s National Exercise Division, the project will provide support in 28 states in FEMA regions VI to X.
ANNAPOLIS – Defense juggernaut Raytheon, which has leased 20,000 square feet in Annapolis Junction to support the doubling of its workforce in Maryland by the end of the year, has received funding for training programs. Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. approved two agreements of $110,000 for training Raytheon staff on cybersecurity, and Maryland’s Dept. of Business and Economic Development is providing up to an additional $50,000.

ANNAPOLIS – Biodefense firm PharmAthene will sell $3.9 million of its common stock and warrants to an existing institutional investor in a registered public offering.
GREENBELT – Gryphon Technologies will supply the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane with logistics and technical support services for the Above Water Sensors Radar and Technologies Division.
ANNAPOLIS – Wireless provider TeleCommunication Systems has racked up several contracts of late:
- $25.4 million from the U.S. Army for hardware and maintenance associated with the Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point, take a breath, Very Small Aperture Terminal Satellite Systems
- $9.8 million the U.S. Army for support equipment and maintenance of the above program
- $10 million from the U.S. Marine Corps for field support engineers pre-positioned to provide support maintenance of Wireless Point to Point Link systems.
INDIAN HEAD – A new inventory management system developed by TASC, Inc. for the U.S. Navy will allow Naval warehousing facilities to automatically count and locate inventory in real time. The software platform integrates a radio frequency identification technology with an inventory management system.
GLEN BURNIE – Vision Technologies will provide the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with network electronics so that legacy equipment can access new high-speed networks as part of the BRAC build out at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The contract is worth $1 million.
